Fire & Ice Bookshop is designed to be more than just an online space to shop for books. It was created to spark a lit experience to connect people, spaces, and places through books, conversation, and community. Our selection of books, products and events will always reflect the wealth of diversity amongst humankind and support the voices of those most often left out of mainstream lit spaces.

In an effort to create a space for such an experience, LaNika Barnes, a local high school educator, opened the Fire & Ice Bookshop in the summer of 2021. Understanding that people have varying levels of interest, expertise, and time for reading, her goal was to ensure that no person would be ashamed, intimidated or turned away from what could be a possible life-changing encounter through a story or conversation. As a wife, mother, Gigi, teacher, and so much more, LaNika understands that time is of the essence so she also created exclusive products and will host lit events, along with special guests to support community members' journeys of reflecting, charting, and celebrating each lit experience.

Together, LaNika and the family at Fire & Ice Bookshop, seek to connect our F&I community members with book selections, monthly book bundle subscriptions, and exclusive lit products to fit their various tastes, life-styles, and reading relationships.
